Dear Tarrant County Friends and Neighbors,

After much thought, prayer, and confirmation with my family, I am running to fill the unexpired term for the Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector.

I am a lifelong Republican and grew up in a family with service as a standard, as my father was a career Army soldier who served in Vietnam, multiple locations in the U.S., and many years in Germany.  I attended Texas A&M University on a full academic scholarship, where I met my husband and graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science.  I was offered a scholarship to SMU Law School immediately afterwards, but life intervened, and we started a family.  I chose to spend the next twelve years as a stay-at-home mom of four boys before becoming a high school teacher, teaching 11th grade United States History.  I became involved in my local community, and in 2016 decided to live out my ideals of political involvement, so I ran for and was elected to serve on the Hurst City Council.  I am also involved in county Republican activities as the Outreach Chair for the Tarrant County GOP, as well as a member of Fort Worth Republican Women.

You might have also heard of my family, the Robertsons, of Duck Dynasty fame.  My father is the character known worldwide as “Uncle Si”, and all the Robertsons on the show are closely related to me.  They are a great family, and they are as genuine in person as they show on TV.  Like myself, they are very conservative, as you might have seen in the recent federal election, where they showed their support for conservative candidates and family values.  They are hugely supportive of me, and you might see them around sometime soon.

As a city councilmember, I have seen the budget process and understand how spending and rates contribute to the tax burden on citizens.  That’s why I voted to reduce the tax rate in Hurst each year.

I know that property taxes are the number one concern among taxpayers, and I want to help address that issue.  While my husband and I are school teachers and do not share in the fame and fortune my cousins and Dad have earned, we do believe in the same conservative and simple life values. As such, my first action as Tax Assessor would be to return 25% of my salary back to the county and its citizens as a show of good faith in my conservative belief that the money belongs to the taxpayers, not to government.

I also believe that the Tax Assessor should use their powerful voice to speak up for the people and demand real solutions for our ever-increasing property taxes.

I would love to earn your support.  If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to email me at [email protected], sign up to Join the Team and help on the campaign, or Follow my Facebook page to stay updated on the latest campaign news.

Trasa Robertson Cobern
